Democratic Party in United States is one the oldest and renowned political parties. This party is famous for it has embellished many people in to great Democrats. Many of them became Presidents of U.S and helped the country as well as party to improve.
President is the head of the States, it is the highest political position; greatly influential as well. Till now Fifteen Presidents elected in U.S Political History were from Democratic Party.
Thomas Jefferson was the founder of Democratic Party. The party came into being in 1792. In 1800, Jefferson was elected as the first Democratic President of the United States. He did some marvelous welfare works.
James Monroe was elected as the president in 1816. In his time the Democratic-Republicans faced very little opposition. He led the nation through the time remembered as “Good Era”.
In 1912, Woodrow Wilson became the Democratic president. He is the first Democrat President of the 20th Century. Wilson directed the country through World War I. He fought for the League of Nations. He established the Federal Reserve Board, and he was the first one to pass the labor and child welfare laws.
Then Franklin Roosevelt was elected as president. He is famous as “Generation Leader”. Roosevelt pulled America out of the melancholy and depressed situations by looking beyond the Democratic base. He supported and energized citizens to make them believe that they can rely on their government and their government will stand by them in times of need. Roosevelt's New Deal and enlightened objectives were to bring water to California's Central Valley, provide electricity to Appalachia and to save farms across the Midwest. The Civilian Conservation Corps, the WPA and Social Security all brought Americans into the system. It freed U.S citizens from fear. It gave them vision for the future and made the nation stronger.
In the 1960s, President John F. Kennedy, a Democrat was elected. He challenged the nation to believe and build on its tremendous history. Kennedy announced a New Frontier and encouraged Americans to put a man on the moon. He created the Peace Corps, and negotiated a treaty whose objective was to ban the testing of nuclear weapons in the environment.
In 1976, Jimmy Carter was elected as president, another Democrat. His main aims were to provide help to restore the nation's trust in government after the effect of Watergate scandal. Carter discussed the historic Camp David peace agreement between Egypt and Israel.
In 1992, Bill Clinton was elected as the President of the United States. President Clinton held the office with the promises for a New Covenant for America's forgotten working families. The Clinton Administration was responsible for reducing unemployment and crime level to the lowest degree in a generation. In 1996, President Clinton was reelected. He became the first Democratic president reelected since Roosevelt in 1936.
Barack Obama is the current president of United States of America. He is first African American to be the President. He is actively indulged in activities regarding economic and domestic development.
Democratic Party has given us some very influential presidents, always working for the greater good.
